Date palms are majestic, tall trees that grow abundantly in the Holy Land. Their long and large leaves spread out from the top of a single trunk that can grow to more than 50 feet in height. Though the exact origin of dates is uncertain, first cultivation is known to be in the Fertile Crescent between Egypt and Mesopotamia as early as 4000 B.C.

Date palms fare best in tropical and subtropical regions, which is why The Date Factory is somewhat of a miracle. The dates harvested are transported to the ‘pakhuis’ in Loeriesfontein, where they are washed, if need be steamed and packaged to produce a perfect product. In the spirit of community service, we are continuously searching and developing new concepts to secure work throughout the year, not only during harvest season. This endeavour gave birth to a by-product that is pressed from our industrial dates – date juice.
